It will add a second ex-Aerolineas A320-200 shortly. 20.06.2009 - XL Airways France (SE/Paris CDG) is now essentially owned by the Icelandic government after the latter has taken control of XL Airways France owner Straumur. XL has leased two ex-Aerolineas Argentinas (AR/Buenos Aires Ezeiza) and ex-Volareweb.com (VE/Milan Malpensa) A320-200s and will add an ex-Windjet (IV/Catania) later this summer when it will operate a total of six A320-200s. It has introduced new longhaul routes: Paris CDG-New York JFK: 2x weekly seasonal A330-200 service starting on June 26 Paris CDG-Samana-Punta Cana: weekly seasonal A330-200 service has started on May 14 It has however dropped Freeport, Nassau and Varadero from its longhaul network. 25.02.2009 - Quantum Air (QO/Palma de Mallorca) is the new brand of AeBal Aerolineas Baleares that has been sold by SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK/Copenhagen Kastrup) to Proturin, a Spanish investment company controlled by former Aerolineas Argentinas (AR/Buenos Aires Ezeiza) CEO Antonio Mata. It is planning to resume charter and wet-lease operations with its fleet of five B717-200s. 14.12.2008 - Air Comet (A7/Madrid Barajas) parent Grupo Marsans has surprisingly confirmed its order for four A380-800s, 10 A350-900s, five additional A330-200s, five A321-200s, 25 A320-200s and 12 A319-100s that it had originally placed when it still had control of Aerolineas Argentinas (AR/Buenos Aires Ezeiza), Austral (AU/Buenos Aires Aeroparque) and before Air Comet Chile (3I/Santiago de Chile) has suspended operations. It is unclear whether all of the aircraft will eventually be operated by Air Comet or if Marsans has other plans. Air Comet has wet-leased an A310-300 and an A330-200 to Royal Air Maroc (AT/Casablanca) for the Hajj season. Air Comet has announced plans for a new route linking Madrid and Medellin in 2009. It has now also given up its Madrid-San Jose Juan Santamaria route though. 21.09.2008 - Air Comet (A7/Madrid Barajas) has taken delivery of its first new A330-200 and is expected to also take delivery of the other five remaining A330-200s from the Marsans order originally made for both Air Comet and Aerolineas Argentinas (AR/Buenos Aires Ezeiza) before Aerolineas has been nationalized. It has given up its Madrid-Santiago de Chile route. |
