24.01.2010 - Jat Airways (JU/Belgrade) has made more network changes:
Belgrade-Larnaca-Dubai: 3x weekly B737-300 service resuming on April 1
Belgrade-Ljubljana: 4x weekly ATR 72-200 service (already launched)
After the announcement of its new Dubai service, it has announced that it will stop serving Abu Dhabi on February 4. The Abu Dhabi route had been launched after Jat had failed to renew a favourable interline agreement with Emirates (EK/Dubai) for the large amount of traffic between Serbia and Australia that it then unsuccessfully tried to replace with a similar agreement with Etihad Airways (EY/Abu Dhabi Intl). It has temporarily suspended its Belgrade-Banja Luka services until March 28 when three weekly ATR 72-200 flights will be resumed on the route. It has announced that it was considering adding direct flights from Banja Luka to several Western European destinations if it is able to secure sufficient traffic rights. Similar plans to launch a new subsidiary in Macedonia, tentatively called Aeromak, seem to have failed after it has not received an operating license. Jat has entered into a bilateral codeshare agreement with Austrian Airlines (OS/Vienna) for the Belgrade-Vienna route allowing the carriers to offer up to five daily services. It has announced 550 job cuts as part of a plan to return back to profitability by 2011. The plan also includes the replacement of its single B737-400 by a B737-700 later in 2010. According to several news reports over the last couple of months, Olympic Air (OA/Athens) parent Marfin Investment Group, Aeroflot (SU/Moscow Sheremetyevo) and Turkish Airlines (TK/Istanbul Ataturk) have all declared their interest in taking over or partnering with Jat Airways should the airline be privatized.

11.10.2009 - Iberia (IB/Madrid Barajas) has parked a four additional new aircraft, an A319-100, two A320-200s and A340-600 to prevent capacity increases and is planning to put the aircraft into service later and has grounded several additional A320-200s as well. It has entered into a codeshare agreement with oneworld alliance partner Qantas (QF/Sydney) offering passengers connections between Spain and Australia via the European Qantas gateways at Frankfurt Intl and London Heathrow. Iberia will however give up its Madrid-Washington Dulles route on October 23.

20.06.2009 - HiFly (5K/Lisbon) has taken delivery of its first A330-200 and is currently operating the aircraft on behalf of the Royal Australian Air Force (Richmond) replacing its A330-300 that had previously operated the RAAF charter flights between Australia and countries where Australian forces are currently stationed such as Afghanistan.

25.02.2009 - Jat Airways (JU/Belgrade) is reportedly planning to lay off up to 30% of its workforce later this year as part of a restructuring plan that is supposed to bring the carrier back to profitability that also includes an additional 10 million EUR investment from the Serbian government and plans to lease four new aircraft towards the end of 2009. It will resume several routes it had previously suspended:
Belgrade-Gothenburg Landvetter: 2x weekly seasonal B737-300 service between June 16 and September 11
Belgrade-Malta-Tripoli: 2x weekly B737-300 service resuming on March 30
Belgrade-Ohrid: twice weekly ATR 72-200 service resuming on June 1
It has however given up its route to Dubai on February 2 after its interline partner Emirates (EK/Dubai) has increased through fares for travel between Serbia and Australia via Dubai and is now considering a new service to Abu Dhabi and an interline relationship with Etihad Airways (EY/Abu Dhabi) instead.

14.12.2008 - Air Comet (A7/Madrid Barajas) parent Grupo Marsans has surprisingly confirmed its order for four A380-800s, 10 A350-900s, five additional A330-200s, five A321-200s, 25 A320-200s and 12 A319-100s that it had originally placed when it still had control of Aerolineas Argentinas (AR/Buenos Aires Ezeiza), Austral (AU/Buenos Aires Aeroparque) and before Air Comet Chile (3I/Santiago de Chile) has suspended operations. It is unclear whether all of the aircraft will eventually be operated by Air Comet or if Marsans has other plans. Air Comet has wet-leased an A310-300 and an A330-200 to Royal Air Maroc (AT/Casablanca) for the Hajj season. Air Comet has announced plans for a new route linking Madrid and Medellin in 2009. It has now also given up its Madrid-San Jose Juan Santamaria route though.
