20.06.2009 - Belavia (B2/Minsk International 2) has resumed four times weekly CRJ-200 service between Minsk Intl 2 and St. Petersburg on March 29. Belavia has also launched weekly seasonal B737-500 service from Minsk Intl 2 to Beirut on June 11 but has not resumed its Minsk Intl 2-Shannon route this summer season. It has leased two ex-Air China (CA/Beijing) B737-300s and two ex-Skywest Airlines (USA) (OO/Salt Lake City) CRJ-200s. It has however retired its last An-24 turboprops in April instead and no longer uses its Tu-154Ms on scheduled services.

25.02.2009 - Alitalia (AZ/Rome Fiumicino) has started operations as a new commercial entity on January 12 as scheduled. Its low-cost carrier subsidiary Volareweb.com (VE/Milan Malpensa) has stopped own scheduled operations and is now operating its two remaining A320-200s on behalf of Air One (AP/Rome Fiumicino) and Alitalia. All cargo operations have been suspended and the MD-11F freighters returned to the lessors. Alitalia has announced several network changes already:
Bologna Marconi-Catania: 2x daily A320-200 service starting on March 29 operated by Air One
Bologna Marconi-Palermo: 2x daily A320-200/CRJ-900 service starting on March 29 operated by Air One and Air One CityLiner (CYL/Rome Fiumicino)
Genoa-Catania: daily CRJ-900 service starting on March 29 operated by Air One CityLiner
Milan Linate-Bucharest Otopeni: 2x daily EMB-170 service starting on March 29 operated by Alitalia Express (XM/Rome Fiumicino)

Rome Fiumicino-Thessaloniki: 3x daily CRJ-900 service starting on March 29 operated by Air One CityLiner
Rome Fiumicino-Valencia: daily MD-82 service starting on March 29
It will however give up its Rome Fiumicino-Prague route on March 28 and will only continue to codeshare on CSA Czech Airlines (OK/Prague) between the two cities. Alitalia has terminated its codeshare agreements with Aeromexico (AM/Mexico City), Air China (CA/Beijing), Brussels Airlines (SN/Brussels), Cyprus Airways (CY/Larnaca), JAL – Japan Airlines (JL/Tokyo Haneda), Kuwait Airways (KU/Kuwait), Luxair (LG/Luxembourg), Malaysia Airlines (MH/Kuala Lumpur Intl), Malev (MA/Budapest) and Ukraine Intl Airlines (PS/Kiev Borispol) while Air One has cancelled similar agreements with Aegean Airlines (A3/Athens) and Lufthansa (LH/Frankfurt Intl).

25.02.2009 - Belavia (B2/Minsk International 2) will lease two ex-Air China (CA/Beijing) B737-300s later this year.

13.09.2008 - Austrian Airlines (OS/Vienna) has officially been put up for sale by the Austrian government that still holds a 42.75% stake in the carrier. Air France-KLM (AF/Paris CDG)/(KL/Amsterdam), British Airways (BA/London Heathrow), Lufthansa (LH/Frankfurt Intl) and S7 Airlines (S7/Novosibirsk) are the only carriers that have submitted bids this week after lots of announcements from other carriers including Aeroflot (SU/Moscow Sheremetyevo), Air China (CA/Beijing), Royal Jordanian (RJ/Amman Queen Alia) and Turkish Airlines (TK/Istanbul Ataturk). Austrian has announced an order for additional four Dash 8-400s and two options for the same aircraft type to replace two Dash 8-300s and two CRJ-200s.

19.07.2008 - Austrian Airlines (OS/Vienna) is now actively looking for a new partner that will take a large stake in the carrier and has entered into multiple legal fights with Sheikh Al Jaber about the failed transaction earlier in the year. Air China (CA/Beijing), Emirates (EK/Dubai), Lufthansa (LH/Frankfurt Intl) and Royal Jordanian (RJ/Amman Queen Alia) have reportedly shown interest so far. AUA will give up its Vienna-London City route on August 18 and its Vienna-Chicago route on October 25 and has delayed the launch of new routes to Jeddah and Riyadh to early October. It has also announced plans to ground 3 or 4 aircraft by the end of the summer season. In other news, it will however resume weekly B767-300ER service from Vienna to Malé on November 5.
