24.01.2010 - Aer Arann (RE/Dublin) has entered into negotiations about a closer cooperation with Aer Lingus (EI/Dublin) that reportedly is based around a proposal that Aer Arann would operate feeder services on behalf or in close cooperation with Aer Lingus from the various UK airports to Dublin and Cork. Aer Arann is reportedly considering leasing a BAe 146-200 again. 24.01.2010 - Aer Lingus (EI/Dublin) has started to operate its services from Belfast Intl and London Gatwick under the air operator certificate of Astraeus (5W/London Gatwick) and has announced plans to apply for an own UK operating license. It is unclear whether this plan is still current given its decision to cut back its London Gatwick base significantly. Aer Lingus will give up its routes from London Gatwick to Lanzarote on February 13, to Faro and Tenerife Sur on February 21, to Munich and Zurich on February 24, to Bucharest Otopeni and Vienna on March 6 and to Eindhoven, Vilnius and Warsaw on March 27. It will however launch twice daily A320-200 service from Cork to London Gatwick on March 6 and also retain its Gatwick routes to Dublin, Knock and Malaga. Aer Lingus is reportedly considering selling four A320-200s, three A321-200s to raise funds for its restructuring plan that also includes deferring deliveries of the two A320-200s on order for fall 2010 by six months. 24.01.2010 - easyJet (U2/London Luton) has announced a wide range of new routes being launched throughout 2010. It also plans to base three additional A319-100s in London Gatwick to capitalize on Aer Lingus (EI/Dublin) making a decision to essentially pull out of Gatwick again: Amsterdam-Prague: daily A319-100 route this summer season and has closed its East Midlands base and all routes from the airport on January 5 as previously announced. It had operated from East Midlands to Alicante, Barcelona, Faro, Geneva, Ibiza, Malaga, Nice, Palma de Mallorca, Prague and Venice Marco Polo. It has also given up its routes from London Luton to Athens and Vienna on the same date. It will continue to serve Athens and Vienna from Gatwick. 11.10.2009 - Aer Lingus (EI/Dublin) will temporarily suspend its Dublin-Milan Malpensa route for the winter season and has announced another 676 job cuts. It has delayed the delivery of three A330-300s to 2013 and 2014 and will return an A330-200 and an A330-300 and take delivery of two additional A330-300s until April 2010 and then operate two A330-200s and six A330-300s for three years. As part of its longhaul fleet cuts, it is reportedly planning to cut more flights between Shannon and the United States. 20.06.2009 - Aer Lingus (EI/Dublin) has announced that it will remove one A320-200 from its Belfast Intl and Dublin bases at the end of the summer season. It has already announced some route cuts for its Belfast Intl base as a result with Milan Malpensa being cut on September 19 while Barcelona, Faro, Paris CDG and Rome Fiumicino routes will be terminated on October 23. At the same time, it will also terminate its Dublin-Hamburg Fuhlsbuettel, Dublin-San Francisco, Dublin-Washington Dulles and London Gatwick-Nice routes on October 24 as well as its Shannon-Chicago O’Hare route on September 1. Aer Lingus has also not resumed seasonal services from Cork to Jersey and Prague this summer.
