24.01.2010 - Alrosa Mirny Air Enterprise (6R/Mirny) has added a sixth ex-AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (J2/Baku) Tu-154M.

24.01.2010 - AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (J2/Baku) is replacing its single A320-200 and two Tu-154Ms still used on scheduled services by four newer ex-Air Berlin (AB/Berlin Tegel) and ex-Belair Airlines (4T/Zurich) A320-200s.

20.06.2009 - AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (J2/Baku) has announced plans to retire its Tu-134 fleet in 2010.

14.12.2008 - S7 Airlines (S7/Novosibirsk) has phased out its remaining Il-86s and Tu-154Ms on November 17 and wil cut up to 1600 staff as a result of its cost cutting plan. It has leased a third and fourth ex-Air Europa (UX/Palma de Mallorca) and ex-Delta Air Lines (DL/Atlanta) B767-300ER. S7 has signed a cooperation agreement with Air Berlin (AB/Berlin Tegel) and Niki (HG/Vienna) that will include a codeshare agreement on all routes between Germany/Austria and Russia flown by the three carriers. It has also entered into a bilateral codeshare agreement with AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (J2/Baku) for the Moscow Domodedovo-Baku route and started codesharing on UTair (P2/Khanty-Mansiysk) routes from Moscow Domodedovo to Ufa and from Moscow Vnukovo to Astrakhan and Nizhnevartovsk. It has retired its last B737-500 in early October but has added a first ex-Adam Air B737-400 instead. S7 has resume weekly A320-200 service from Novosibirsk to Bishkek on November 20. It has given up plans for a new Moscow Domodedovo-Bangkok Suvarnabhumi route following the airport blockade in Bangkok last month. In addition, it has also given up its Moscow Domodedovo-Ashgabat route on November 21.

13.09.2008 - AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (J2/Baku) has launched weekly ATR 72-500 service from Baku to Rostov on July 18. It has modified finalized a previously announced Boeing order that now includes four B737-900ERs, two B767-300ERs and two B787-8s with deliveries scheduled to start in 2010. It is planning to use the B767 and B787 aircraft to launch longhaul services to South East Asia and the US.
