24.01.2010 - Air Malta (KM/Malta) is adding new routes to Italy next summer:
Catania-Frankfurt Intl: 4x weekly A319-100/A320-200 service starting on April 3
Malta-Naples: 2x weekly seasonal A319-100/A320-200 service starting on June 6
Malta-Reggio di Calabria-Genoa: 2x weekly seasonal A319-100 service starting on May 8
Malta-Turin: 2x weekly A320-200 service starting on May 21

24.01.2010 - Meridiana (IG/Olbia) and Eurofly will merge by the end of January and operate as a single carrier under the Meridiana Fly brand with a longhaul and shorthaul division going forward. Meridiana currently already owns 60.7% of Eurofly and will use the Eurofly air operator certificate for the merged entity. Its shorthaul services will be offered under the Meridiana Express brand. It has introduced new services to its combined network:
Bologna Marconi-Marsa Alam: weekly seasonal A320-200 service between January 17 and April 25
Milan Linate-Bari: daily MD-82 service (already launched in December)
Venice Marco Polo-Bucharest Otopeni: 3x weekly A319-100 service starting on March 30
Verona-Casablanca: 2x weekly A320-200 service starting on April 1
Verona-Skopje: weekly MD-82 service has started on December 19
Meridiana has started codesharing on Air Malta (KM/Malta) services from Catania and Rome Fiumicino to Malta with Air Malta offering connections to Italian destinations via the two Italian gateways. Its seasonal longhaul services to New York JFK will only operate from Naples and Palermo this summer season, flights from Rome Fiumicino will no longer be offered. In other news, Meridiana has sold its 18% stake in Florence Airport.

11.10.2009 - Air Malta (KM/Malta) will launch weekly A319-100 service from Malta via Catania to Paris Orly on November 16.

20.06.2009 - Air Malta (KM/Malta) will operate twice weekly seasonal A319-100 service from Malta to Palermo between July 3 and September 27. It has added its KM code to Brussels Airlines (SN/Brussels Ntl) services between Catania and Brussels Ntl.

20.06.2009 - Lufthansa (LH/Frankfurt International) will retire its remaining A300-600Rs by July 1. It has announced several new routes from its Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Milan hubs:
Dusseldorf Intl-Dubai: weekly seasonal A340-300 service starting on November 26
Dusseldorf Intl-St. Petersburg: daily CRJ-700 service has started on May 2 (operated by Lufthansa CityLine (CL/Cologne/Bonn))
Dusseldorf Intl-Venice Marco Polo: daily CRJ-200/-700 service has started on April 20 (operated by Eurowings (EW/Dortmund) and Lufthansa CityLine)
Frankfurt Intl-Accra-Libreville: 5x weekly A330-300 service starting on July 1 (replacing one-stops via Lagos, Libreville will only be served as of July 15)
Frankfurt Intl-(Dammam)-Bahrain: daily B737-800 service starting on September 22 (operated by PrivatAir (PTI/Geneva), 3x weekly via Dammam, 4x weekly non-stop) (replacing A330-300 services in combination with Abu Dhabi and Muscat)
Milan Malpensa-Bari: daily A319-100 service has started on April 1
Milan Malpensa-Naples: 2x daily A319-100 service has started on April 1
Milan Malpensa-Rome Fiumicino: 4x daily A319-100 service has started on April 1
It has however terminated its Frankfurt Intl-Bristol and Munich-Yerevan services and will give up its routes from Frankfurt Intl to Alexandria El Nohza, Paderborn, Ufa and Valencia on July 1. Lufthansa is also not resuming seasonal services from Dusseldorf to Toulouse and from Stuttgart to Marseilles anymore this year. Its Stuttgart-Turin route is now not expected to be resumed until September 14. It has finally implemented its previously announced codeshare agreement with TACA Intl Airlines (TA/San Salvador) and now provides its passengers connections via Caracas to Lima and via Miami to San Salvador. It has also put its LH code on services from Milan Malpensa with Aegean Airlines (A3/Athens) to Athens and Air Malta (KM/Malta) to Malta. Lufthansa and its future subsidiary Brussels Airlines (SN/Brussels Ntl) have started codesharing on all routes between Brussels Ntl and Germany on March 29 with the exception of Munich.
