24.01.2010 - FlyLAL Charters (LLC/Vilnius) has based a B737-300 in Sharm el Sheikh on behalf of Italian charter broker Aeroservizi. It has added a fifth ex-British Airways (BA/London Heathrow) B737-300. FlyLAL has announced plans to set-up a new charter operator in Poland, FlyLAL Charters PL (Warsaw) that will start operating charter flights with B737s on behalf of Polish tour operators later in 2010.

24.01.2010 - Rossiya (FV/St. Petersburg) has received 130 million USD in government subsidies to assist the struggling carrier in settling its debt with various suppliers. The city government of St. Petersburg is taking a 26% stake in the carrier in return and Rossiya is now expected to be privatized in 2010. It has terminated its St. Petersburg-Beijing route on November 11 and with also not resume its seasonal St. Petersburg-Hanover route next summer season. It is planning to lease a sixth ex-FlyLAL Charters (LLC/Vilnius) B737-500. In better news, it has announced new seasonal routes to Italy:
St. Petersburg-Catania: weekly seasonal A319-100 service starting on April 30
St. Petersburg-Rimini: weekly seasonal A320-200 service starting on June 5
St. Petersburg-Venice Marco Polo: weekly seasonal A319-100 service starting on May 29

24.01.2010 - Tafa Air (Tirana) had announced plans to operate daily low-cost services from Tirana via Pristina to Dortmund, Friedrichshafen and Neubrandenburg as of December 1. It had planned to wet-leased two A320-200s but has so far only operated a handful of flights using a B737-300 wet-leased from FlyLAL Charters (LLC/Vilnius) that has since stopped its services on behalf of the Albanian start-up. It is now planning to resume services on February 1 after having delayed the resumption date several times proposing three weekly flights from Friedrichshafen to Pristina and another three weekly services via Tirana to Athens.

11.10.2009 - Belavia (B2/Minsk International 2) is considering adding longhaul aircraft to its fleet to introduce new routes to China and North America. It is planning to retire its remaining Tu-154s by 2011 and has retired its last Tu-134 earlier this summer and has replaced it by a fifth ex-FlyLAL B737-500. The government is reportedly also considering merging regional carrier Gomelavia (YD/Gomel) and cargo operator Trans Avia Export (AL/ Minsk Machulishchy) into Belavia. It has launched three times weekly CRJ-200 service from Minsk Intl 2 to Amsterdam on August 10.

20.06.2009 - FlyLAL Charters (LLC/Vilnius) has wet-leased a B737-300 and two B757-200s to Scat (DV/Chimkent) in addition to the two B737-500s it already operates for the carrier. It has also established a new subsidiary in Estonia, FlyLAL Charters Estonia (ESC/Tallinn) that now operates a single B737-300 on charter services out of Tallinn. The Lithuanian government in the meantime is considering setting up a new state owned Lithuanian airline.
