07.12.2008 - Air France (AF/Paris CDG) has given up its London Heathrow-Los Angeles route by the end of the summer timetable and handed over the slot pair at Heathrow to joint venture partner Delta Air Lines (DL/Atlanta) for an additional daily London Heathrow-New York JFK roundtrip. It has secured traffic rights that would allow it to launch a daily service between Paris CDG and Tokyo Haneda in fall 2010 as part of the new France-Japan bilateral agreement. It will launch twice daily service from Paris Orly to Berne on January 19 using Airlinair (A5/Paris Orly) ATR 42-500s. Air France has confirmed plans for a joint venture with French transportation group Veolia to launch joint high-speed rail services from Paris CDG to Amsterdam and London in fall 2010. It has temporarily suspended its codeshare agreement with China Eastern Airlines (MU/Shanghai Hongqiao) between Paris CDG and Shanghai Pu Dong for the winter season. In other news, it has intensified its cooperation with Air Mauritius (MK/Mauritius) to now include connections via Mauritius and Paris CDG to other destinations in Europe and Southern Africa.
19.07.2008 - British Airways (BA/London Heathrow) , Iberia (IB/Madrid) and American Airlines (AA/Dallas/Fort Worth) are planning to apply for antitrust immunity to launch a joint venture on transatlantic services between Europe and the US. BA is reportedly planning to lease several B777-300ERs from Boeing as of 2010 to cover for B787 delivery delays. It will retire its remaining 5 B737-300s until mid-2009 and its 9 B737-500s until 2010. It has acquired LAvion (A0/Paris Orly) for 68 million EUR and is planning to integrate the French premium carrier into its Open Skies (EC/London Heathrow) subsidiary. British Airways has however sold its 10.5% minority stake in Air Mauritius (MK/Mauritius) to the Mauritian government.
