20.06.2009 - Aigle Azur (ZI/Paris Orly) has placed an order for a single A319-100 at the Paris Air Show. It has wet-leased an A320-200 from SmartLynx (6Y/Riga) for the summer season. It has also leased a new A320-200 that has not been taken up by China Eastern Airlines (MU/Shanghai Hongqiao). It has launched a weekly seasonal A321-200 service from Paris Orly to Faro on April 11. 20.06.2009 - Air France (AF/Paris CDG) , KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL/Amsterdam) and Delta Air Lines (DL/Atlanta) including subsidiary Northwest Airlines (NW/Minneapolis/St. Paul) have entered into a joint venture for all transatlantic routes between Europe and the United States. Similar agreements had previously existed between Air France and Delta and between KLM and Northwest. Air France will introduce a new premium Economy Class product branded as “Premium Voyageur” later this year on some selected longhaul routes. It will launch twice weekly non-stop service from Paris CDG to Yaoundé on July 16 in addition to one weekly flight via Douala that will continue to get a daily A340-300 service from Paris CDG with six instead of four weekly flights now terminating in Douala. Air France has however given up its Clermont-Ferrand-Biarritz/Brussels Ntl, Lyon-Frankfurt Intl and Rennes-Strasbourg routes earlier this spring already and will pull out of the Bordeaux-Brussels Ntl market on June 27. It has also given up plans for a seasonal Bordeaux-Calvi service. As of June 15, it will resume its codeshare agreement with China Eastern Airlines (MU/Shanghai Hongqiao) for the Paris CDG-Shanghai Pu Dong route that is served twice daily by Air France and daily by China Eastern. At the same time, it will also put its AF code on some Air Tahiti Nui (TN/Papeete) services between Los Angeles and Papeete. As part of its capacity cuts, Air France has sold all four B777-200ERF freighters it has ordered and is not planning to lease back the two aircraft it has not yet taken delivery of. Air France-KLM also plans to cut its workforce by 2500-3000 jobs. It has reportedly also deferred deliveries of two B777-300ERs and two A380-800s. In other news, it is however reportedly planning to place a joint order with KLM for up to 100 A350s or B787s later this year. 20.06.2009 - Viking Airlines (4P/Stockholm Arlanda) has leased a second ex-Futura Intl Airways B737-800 and will also wet-lease another two B737-800s from Sunwing Airlines (WG/Toronto Pearson) for the summer season. It has also added three ex-bmibaby (WW/East Midlands), ex-China Eastern Airlines (MU/Shanghai Hongqiao) and Garuda Indonesia (GA/Jakarta Intl) B737-300s to its fleet. 07.12.2008 - Air France (AF/Paris CDG) has given up its London Heathrow-Los Angeles route by the end of the summer timetable and handed over the slot pair at Heathrow to joint venture partner Delta Air Lines (DL/Atlanta) for an additional daily London Heathrow-New York JFK roundtrip. It has secured traffic rights that would allow it to launch a daily service between Paris CDG and Tokyo Haneda in fall 2010 as part of the new France-Japan bilateral agreement. It will launch twice daily service from Paris Orly to Berne on January 19 using Airlinair (A5/Paris Orly) ATR 42-500s. Air France has confirmed plans for a joint venture with French transportation group Veolia to launch joint high-speed rail services from Paris CDG to Amsterdam and London in fall 2010. It has temporarily suspended its codeshare agreement with China Eastern Airlines (MU/Shanghai Hongqiao) between Paris CDG and Shanghai Pu Dong for the winter season. In other news, it has intensified its cooperation with Air Mauritius (MK/Mauritius) to now include connections via Mauritius and Paris CDG to other destinations in Europe and Southern Africa. 20.07.2008 - Belavia (B2/Minsk International 2) has leased a first ex-China Eastern Airlines (MU/Shanghai Hongqiao) B737-300. |
