29.08.2010 - Air Baltic (BT/Riga) has taken delivery of its first three Dash 8-400s and has temporarily wet-leased a MD-87 from iMD Airways (CFF/Madrid) and three Fokker 100s from Blue Line (4Y/Paris CDG) and Trade Air (8P/Zagreb) to cover for other Dash 8-400s that have not yet been delivered. It continues its strategy to build up its so called North Hub in Riga and expansion into Estonia and Finland: Oulu-Stockholm Arlanda: 5x weekly Fokker 50 service has started on June 1 Riga-Arkhangelsk: 2x weekly B737-500 service on July 3 Riga-Kittilä: 2x weekly Dash 8-400 service starting on November 11 Riga-Lappeenranta-Kuopio: 4x weekly Dash 8-400/Fokker 50 service has started on May 3 Riga-Lappeenranta-Kuusamo: 3x weekly Dash 8-400/Fokker 50 service has started on March 31 Riga-Lulea: 3x weekly Dash 8-400/Fokker 50 service has started on July 2 Riga-Tampere-Kittilä: 2x weekly Dash 8-400 service starting on November 10 Riga-Tampere-Kuopio: 3x weekly Dash 8-400/Fokker 50 service has started on March 31 Riga-Tampere-Rovaniemi: 4x weekly Fokker 50 service has started on May 3 Riga-Visby: 3x weekly seasonal Fokker 50 service has started on June 4 Tallinn-Stockholm Arlanda: 5x weekly Fokker 50 service has started on June 1 Tallinn-Turku-Oulu: 4x weekly Fokker 50 service has started on May 13 Vilnius-Dublin: 5x weekly B737-300/-500 service has resumed on March 29 Vilnius-Tallinn: 2x daily Fokker 50 service has resumed on March 28 The Latvian carrier has however given up its Vilnius-Amsterdam route again on June 6 and will give up its Riga-Belgrade route on August 30. It has also cut its Riga-Pskov link citing lack of demand as the main reason. Air Baltic has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Turkish airport operator TAV to enter into a joint venture to build a new terminal in Riga able to handle up to seven million passengers. It has also announced plans to replace its fleet of eight B737-300s, nine B737-500s and two B757-200s by new B737NG or A320 family aircraft by 2013 when it also wants to have its Fokker 50 fleet phased out. Air Baltic is then planning to increase its medium haul fleet from 19 to approximately 30 by 2014. Air Baltic is reportedly in talks with Finncomm Airlines (FC/Helsinki) about a possible acquisition of the Finnish regional carrier. It has started codesharing on new Tarom (RO/Bucharest Otopeni) services linking Riga and Bucharest Otopeni four times a week. 24.01.2010 - Trade Air (8P/Zagreb) has started operating one of its two Fokker 100s on behalf of Petro Air (PEO/Tripoli Intl). 25.02.2009 - SkyEurope Airlines (NE/Bratislava) is still continuing operations even though several lessors have repossessed all but four of its B737-700s. In addition, it has now wet-leased a MD-83 from MAP Jet (MPJ/Vienna), two B737-300s from Air Slovakia (GM/Bratislava), two B737-300s from Bulgaria Air (FB/Sofia) and a Fokker 100 from Trade Air (8P/Zagreb) to continue operations with a limited schedule. It is now planning to dry lease up to six ex-flyLAL B737-300s and B737-500s to transfer some flights back from wet-leased equipment to own aircraft. Potential Greek investor SAPO has pulled out of a joint venture with Portuguese investment group Longstock and it is unclear if Longstock will still be able to pursue an investment in SkyEurope without its Greek partner. SkyEurope has given up its Vienna-Copenhagen Kastrup route and will not resume its seasonal services to Rimini and Trieste this summer season. 19.05.2008 - Croatia Airlines (OU/Zagreb) has taken delivery of its first Dash 8-400. It has temporarily wet-leased a Fokker 100 from Trade Air (8P/Zagreb) until mid-June until the second Dash 8-400 will be delivered. It is reportedly planning to order several additional A319-100s later this year. It will launch three new routes: Zagreb-Osijek: weekly seasonal ATR 42-300 service between June 24 and August 26 Zagreb-Podgorica: 3x weekly ATR 42-300 service starting on June 17 Zagreb-Pristina: 3x weekly Dash 8-400 service starting on June 16 10.12.2006 - EuroAir (6M/Athens) has wet-leased a Let 410 from Trade Air (TDR/Zagreb). |
