24.01.2010 - Alitalia (AZ/Rome Fiumicino) is again expanding its network and is planning to replace its remaining six B767-300ERs by four new A330-200s from the original Air One (AP/Rome Fiumicino) order and two leased B777-200ERs over the course of the next two years: Milan Linate-Crotone: daily CRJ-900 service has started on December 7 (operated by Air One CityLiner (CT/Rome Fiumicino)) Milan Malpensa-Miami: 3x weekly B767-300ER service starting on June 3 Rome Fiumicino-Crotone: 2x daily CRJ-900 service has started on December 7 (operated by Air One CityLiner) Rome Fiumicino-Los Angeles: 5x weekly B777-200ER service resuming on June 5 Rome Fiumicino-Malaga: daily A320-200 service resuming on March 28 Rome Fiumicino-Vienna: 2x daily CRJ-900 service resuming on March 28 (operated by Air One CityLiner) Alitalia will however give up its Milan Malpensa-Sao Paulo Guarulhos route on March 27 in favour of a frequency increase on the Rome Fiumicino-Sao Paulo Guarulhos route that will now be operated daily. It has replaced the ARJ-70 wet-leased from Transwede Airways (5T/Gothenburg Landvetter) by Cityjet (WX/Dublin) ARJ-85s on its twice daily Milan Linate-London City route now operated in codeshare with Air France (AF/Paris CDG). Alitalia and Baboo (F7/Geneva) have signed a bilateral codeshare agreement covering all flights operated between Geneva and Italy by the two carriers and the Baboo routes from Marseilles to Milan Malpensa and from Nice to Venice Marco Polo. 24.01.2010 - VLM (VG/Antwerp) will stop selling flights under its own carrier code on March 28 when all of its flights will be operating with Air France (AF/Paris CDG) flight numbers and VLM will become a wet-lease provider operating its Fokker 50s for Air France subsidiary Cityjet (WX/Dublin). It has given up its Rotterdam-Manchester route on January 5. 11.10.2009 - Alitalia (AZ/Rome Fiumicino) has given up its Milan Malpensa-Dusseldorf Intl route on July 1, its routes from Milan Linate to Athens and Warsaw and from Milan Malpensa to Athens on September 20 and the Venice Marco Polo-Cagliari route on October 1. It has however added other new routes from Turin and Venice: Turin-Amsterdam: 4x weekly A319-100 service starting on December 16 Turin-Berlin Tegel: 2x weekly A319-100 service starting on December 17 Turin-Istanbul Ataturk: 2x weekly A319-100 service starting on December 15 Turin-Moscow Sheremetyevo: 2x weekly A319-100 service starting on December 19 Venice Marco Polo-Brindisi: 3x weekly MD-82 service starting on August 11 Venice Marco Polo-Catania: 5x weekly MD-82 service starting on August 10 Alitalia is planning to relaunch Air One (AP/Rome Fiumicino) as a separate low-cost carrier that will operate five or six A320-200s out of Milan Malpensa. Eight A320-200s have already been transferred from Air One to Alitalia this summer and the remaining aircraft are still expected to follow later this or next year. It is reportedly considering withdrawing the CRJ-900 fleet of its Air One Cityliner (CYL/Rome Fiumicino) subsidiary from service by the end of 2009. It will replace its ARJ-70 wet-leased from Transwede Airways (5T/Gothenburg Landvetter) by a Cityjet (WX/Dublin) ARJ-85 later this fall. 20.06.2009 - Blue 1 (KF/Helsinki) has replaced its last ARJ-100 by a second ARJ-85 leased from Cityjet (WX/Dublin). It is planning to launch seasonal weekly MD-90-30 services from Kittilä to Dusseldorf Intl and Paris CDG next winter. 20.06.2009 - Cityjet (WX/Dublin) will be the surviving brand following the merger of Air France (AF/Paris CDG) subsidiary Cityjet and VLM (VG/Antwerp). The two carriers will start operating under the Cityjet brand on January 1, 2010 but will continue to operate under two different air operator certificates for the time being. Several new routes have been launched or announced by the two carriers: Antwerp-Frankfurt Intl: 3x daily Fokker 50 service has started on May 5 London City-Nantes: 2x daily ARJ-85/Fokker 50 service has started on April 27 VLM will give up its London City-Manchester route on June 5. Cityjet has already terminated its London City-Geneva and Geneva-Nice services on behalf of Air France on April 19. |
