Aerosvit will however temporarily suspend its Kiev Borispol-Dusseldorf Intl route from October 30. It has also started codesharing on twice weekly Wind Rose services from Kiev Borispol to Tashkent. Aerosvit, Armavia (U8/Yerevan) and UTair (UT/Khanty-Mansiysk) have signed a letter of intent with El Al Israel Airlines (LY/Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) with the aim to launch a fourth worldwide alliance of smaller carriers tentatively called WE which stands for Western-Eastern. The alliance is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2011 and would operate in a similar fashion to oneworld, Skyteam and Star Alliance.
Calima Aviación (CMV/Las Palmas) has launched charter and ACMI operations with a single ex-Aerosvit Airlines (VV/Kiev Borispol) B737-400. It currently operates the aircraft on behalf of Air Algérie (AH/Algiers).
Dniproavia (Z6/Dnepropetrovsk) has wet-leased its B767-300ER to Aerosvit Airlines (VV/Kiev Borispol) and has launched new regional routes:

UIA will temporarily suspend its Lviv-Milan Malpensa route for the winter season as of October 3. It has signed a codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways (EY/Abu Dhabi Intl) covering the Kiev Borispol-Abu Dhabi Intl route flown by UIA and several destinations in the Middle East and Africa on Etihad services from Abu Dhabi. It has given up its short-lived cooperation with Wind Rose Aviation (7W/Kiev Borispol) that now has joined forces with UIA competitor Aerosvit Airlines (VV/Kiev Borispol). Austrian Airlines (OS/Vienna) has sold its 23% stake in UIA earlier this year.
Wind Rose Aviation (7W/Kiev Borispol) has given up the vast majority of own scheduled services with the exception of a twice weekly Kiev Borispol-Tashkent service operated by EMB-195s and now operates its two EMB-195s on behalf of Aerosvit Airlines (VV/Kiev Borispol) and its partners. It is still codesharing on a wide range of Aerosvit services, some of which operated with Wind Rose aircraft, and flights operated by Dniproavia (Z6/Dnepropetrovsk) and Donbassaero (7D/Donetsk). It has however launched a new weekly seasonal EMB-195 service from Kiev Borispol to Pula that operates between June 12 and September 18. Wind Rose has also wet-leased two A320-200s from SmartLynx (6Y/Riga) for charter services.

Donbassaero (7D/Donetsk) has launched twice weekly A320-200 service from Kiev Borispol to Almaty taking over the route from Aerosvit Airlines (VV/Kiev Borispol) that now codeshares on the service operated by Donbassaero. It had wet-leased an A320-200 to Air Manas (M2/Bishkek) for the Hajj season.

Aerosvit Airlines (VV/Kiev Borispol) will give up its routes from Kiev Borispol to Almaty and Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel by the end of the summer timetable season on October 24 and has already terminated its Kiev Borispol-Cairo and Kiev Borispol-Dusseldorf services in late September. Its longhaul routes to Delhi and Toronto Pearson will be suspended temporarily for the winter season and return in late March.
Calima Aviación (CMV/Las Palmas) will shortly start charter and ACMI operations with a single ex-Aerosvit Airlines (VV/Kiev Borispol) B737-400s.
Olympic Air (OA/Athens) is the new name of the private carrier owned by Marfin Investment Group that has started to replace state owned Olympic Airlines (OP/Athens) on September 29. It has taken delivery of eight A319-100s, four A320-200s, an ATR 42-300, five Dash 8-100s (including the four ex-Olympic Airlines aircraft), five Dash 8-400 dry-leased from Flybe. (BE/Exeter) and four aircraft of the same type wet-leased from Flybe. It has not taken over the A340-300s, ATR 42-300s, ATR 72-200s, B737-300s and B737-400s of Olympic Airlines. It has also wet-leased an ATR 42-300 from DOT – Danu ora transportas (R6/Vilnius).

Olympic Air will no longer serve routes previously operated by Olympic Airlines from Athens to Berlin Tegel, Dubai, Dusseldorf Intl, Frankfurt Intl, Johannesburg Intl, Kalymnos, Kastoria, Kozani, Kuwait, Madrid, Manchester, Milan Linate, Montreal Trudeau, Moscow Sheremetyevo, Munich, New York JFK, Stuttgart and Toronto Pearson and from Thessaloniki to Berlin Tegel, Dusseldorf Intl, Istanbul Ataturk, Mykonos and Stuttgart. Olympic Air has signed a codeshare agreement with Delta Air Lines (DL/Atlanta) for the Athens-New York JFK route operated by its US partner and domestic services in Greece and the United States. It has also announced plans for similar codeshare agreements with Aerosvit Airlines (VV/Kiev Borispol), Air France (AF/Paris CDG), Baboo (F7/Geneva), CSA Czech Airlines (OK/Prague), Cyprus Airways (CY/Larnaca), Etihad Airways (EY/Abu Dhabi), KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL/Amsterdam) and Singapore Airlines (SQ/Singapore Changi).

Aerosvit Airlines (VV/Kiev Borispol) has wet-leased an An-148-100 from Antonov Design Bureau (Kiev Gostomel) and is currently using the aircraft on its Kiev Borispol-Kharkov route. It is the first aircraft of the type to enter scheduled operations. At the same time, Aerosvit has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Antonov to order 10 An-148-100s with deliveries scheduled over the course of the next three years. The aircraft carriers up to 70 passengers and is expected to go into mass production shortly. Aerosvit will also lease another ex-Estonian Air (OV/Tallinn) B737-500. Aerosvit has put its code on the daily Motor Sich Airlines (M9/Zaporozhye) An-140 service between Kiev Borispol and Zaporozhye. It has however given up its routes from Kiev Borispol to Budapest and Cairo and temporarily suspended its Kiev Borispol-Shanghai Pu Dong route until October 30. Aerosvit has moved its Odessa-Moscow route from Domodedovo to Sheremetyevo on June 1. It currently operates five weekly B737-500 services on the route. Aerosvit has launched twice weekly B737-400 service from Kiev Borispol to Astana on April 25.

Aerosvit Airlines (VV/Kiev Borispol) will add an ex-Estonian Air (OV/Tallinn) B737-500. It will launch five times weekly B737-300/-400 service from Kiev Borispol to Dusseldorf Intl on June 22. The Ukrainian government is planning to sell its 22.4% stake in Aerosvit later this year.

Aeroflot (SU/Moscow Sheremetyevo) , Aerosvit Airlines (VV/Kiev Borispol), Air France (AF/Paris CDG), Austrian Airlines (OS/Vienna), British Airways (BA/London Heathrow), Finnair (AY/Helsinki), KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL/Amsterdam), LTU Intl Airways (LT/Dusseldorf Intl), Lufthansa (LH/Frankfurt Intl), SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK/Copenhagen Kastrup) , Swiss (LX/Zurich), TUIfly Nordic (6B/Stockholm Arlanda) and Turkish Airlines (TK/Istanbul Ataturk) have all resumed normal operations to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi after the blockade by Thai anti-government protesters at the airport has ended. Some carriers had operated adhoc schedules to Chiang Mai, Phuket and Utapao in the meantime.

Ukraine International Airlines (PS/Kiev Borispol) will lease four new B737-800s that will be delivered in 2009 and 2010. The Ukrainian government is planning to sell its remaining stakes in both Ukraine Intl Airlines and Aerosvit Airlines (VV/Kiev Borispol) later this year.

It has added an ex-CSA Czech Airlines (OK/Prague) B737-400 and wet-leased an An-24 from Lugansk Airlines (LHS/Lugansk) for regional services. Aerosvit has signed a codeshare agreement with PIA - Pakistan Intl Airlines (PK/Karachi) for the Dubai-Karachi route allowing its customers connections between Kiev Borispol and Karachi. It has however given up its Kiev Borispol-Ashgabat route.

It has formed an alliance with its partner Donbassaero (7D/Donetsk) and the two carriers are expected to coordinate schedules.
