09SEP2012: Iceland Express to resume US services starting with Boston as first destination
Iceland Express (HC, Reykjavik Keflavik (KEF)) has announced plans to resume services to the United States in summer 2013 annnouncing Boston General Edward Lawrence Logan International (BOS) as its first destination. The virtual low-cost carrier currently uses A320-200s from Holidays Czech Airlines (HCC, Prague Vaclav Havel Ruzyne (PRG)) for its its services from Iceland to Europe. It had previously served Boston, Chicago O'Hare International (ORD) and Winnipeg International (YWG) in North America until summer 2011 but had been forced to stop its flights there after the bankruptcy of sister carrier and previous wet-lease operator Astraeus (5W, London Gatwick (LGW)).

Astraeus (5W, London Gatwick (LGW)) has suspended operations and been placed under administration on November 21. It had operated B737-300/500/-700 and B757-200 aircraft on wet-lease and charter contracts.
