07MAR2013: Air Berlin Turkey to be closed down by end of March
Air Berlin (AB, Berlin Tegel (TXL)) will give up its Air Berlin Turkey (Antalya (AYT)) joint venture with Pegasus Airlines (PC, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen International (SAW)) by the end of this month and then again use its own aircraft for operations between Germany and Antalya currently operated by Pegasus Airlines with three B737-800s operated in Air Berlin Turkey colors. The two carriers will continue to codeshare on several Pegasus routes from Berlin Schönefeld (SXF), Cologne/Bonn Konrad Adenauer (CGN), Dusseldorf International (DUS), Munich Franz Josef Strauss International (MUC) and Stuttgart Echterdingen (STR) to Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen International (SAW) as well as from Sabiha Gökcen to Ankara Esenboga International (ESB) and Izmir Adnan Menderes (ADB). Air Berlin and subsidiaries Belair Airlines (4T, Zurich Kloten (ZRH)) and Niki (HG, Vienna International (VIE)) will serve Antalya from 19 destinations in Austria, Germany and Switzerland in the upcoming summer season.

05NOV2012: Pegasus takes over Air Berlin Turkey operations from Izair
Pegasus Airlines (PC, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen International (SAW)) has taken over operational responsibility for its joint venture with Air Berlin (AB, Berlin Tegel (TXL)). It now operates the three B737-800s previously operated by subsidiary Izair (4I, Izmir Adnan Menderes (ADB)) on behalf of Air Berlin Turkey (Antalya (AYT)) on its own air operator certificate. It is unclear what role Izair will play for Pegasus going forward as it does not currently operate any aircraft anymore.

06OCT2012: Air Berlin Turkey to take over Antalya-Switzerland flights from Belair
Air Berlin Turkey (Antalya (AYT)) will take over all of Belair Airlines (4T, Zurich Kloten (ZRH))'s flights between Switzerland and Antalya from March 2013 operating four weekly B737-800 flights from Antalya to Zurich Kloten (ZRH) and two weekly flights from Antalya to Basle/Mulhouse/Freiburg EuroAirport (BSL) next summer season. Air Berlin Turkey's three B737-800s are operated by Izair (4I, Izmir Adnan Menderes (ADB)) and currently operate on routes from Antalya to Germany where they have replaced flights previously operated by Belair owner Air Berlin (AB, Berlin Tegel (TXL)) or its Turkish partner Pegasus Airlines (PC, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen International (SAW)).

Air Berlin (AB, Berlin Tegel (TXL)) has requested for approval by the German antitrust authorities to be allowed to take a minority stake in Izair (4I, Izmir Adnan Menderes (ADB)). The Turkish carrier is owned by Air Berlin shareholder ESAS holding (which also controls Pegasus Airlines (PC, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen International (SAW))) and operates the B737-800s of Air Berlin Turkey (Antalya (AYT)). It has recently returned its remaining three A319-100s to the lessors.

Izair (4I, Izmir Adnan Menderes (ADB)) has returned both of its A320-200s to the lessors. It continues to operate three A319-100s for parent Pegasus Airlines (PC, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen International (SAW)) and two B737-800s for Air Berlin Turkey (Antalya (AYT)). It is expected to operate up to six B737-800s for Air Berlin Turkey, the joint venture between Air Berlin (AB, Berlin Tegel (TXL)) and Pegasus Airlines, this summer season.
