03JUN2013: Latvia's SmartLynx retires its sole B767-300
SmartLynx Airlines (6Y, Riga) has retired its last B767-300, YL-LCY (msn 24952), from active duty following the end of a wet-lease contract with Venezuelan carrier, SBA Airlines (S3, Maracaibo). The move now means SmartLynx operates an exclusively Airbus Industrie (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) fleet consisting of eight A320-200s for use on ad-hoc passenger, ACMI and charter flights across Europe, Africa and Asia.

04DEC2012: First own B767-300 delivered to SBA Airlines
SBA Airlines (S3, Maracaibo) has taken delivery of its first of two ex-Mexicana (MX, México City) B767-300ERs YV528T (MSN 24349) with a second aircraft (MSN 23764) still being prepared for the Venezuelan carrier at Miami Int'l. SBA currently wet-leases two B767-300ERs from Icelandair (FI, Reykjavik Keflavik) and its subsidiary SmartLynx Airlines (6Y, Riga).

24OCT2012: Icelandair operates single B767-300ER, aircraft transferred from SmartLynx
Icelandair (FI, Reykjavik Keflavik) has added a B767-300ER (TF-LLB, MSN 25000) to its fleet again. The aircraft currently operates on a wet-lease contract on behalf of SBA Airlines (S3, Maracaibo) on routes from Caracas to Miami Int'l, Panamá City Tocumen Int'l and Tenerife Norte. It had previously also been operated for SBA by Icelandair's Latvian charter subsidiary SmartLynx Airlines (6Y, Riga). Icelandair dry-leases two other B767-300ERs to Air Niugini (PX, Port Moresby) on a long-term lease.

13JUL2012: Conviasa now using SBA Airlines/SmartLynx B767-300ER on Madrid route
Conviasa (V0, Caracas Simón Bolivar) has again changed the operator of its twice weekly service from Caracas to Madrid Barajas and is currently using B767-300ER YL-LCY operated by SmartLynx Airlines (6Y, Riga) and generally on a long-term wet-lease to SBA Airlines (S3, Maracaibo). The aircraft is still used SBA Airlines while not operating the Madrid rotations for Conviasa.

Conviasa (V0, Caracas Simón Bolivar) has signed an agreement with SBA Airlines (S3, Maracaibo) to reprotect its Caracas Simón Bolivar-Madrid Barajas passengers on SBA services on the route following the EU ban on Conviasa's operation to Madrid. SBA currently uses two B767-300ERs wet-leased from SmartLynx Airlines (6Y, Riga) on the route.
