15APR2013: Air Explore to lease 3 B737s to Arke Fly this summer
Air Explore (ED, Bratislava Milan Rastislav Stefánik (BTS)) is to wet lease a total of three B737s to Arke Fly (OR, Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS)) this coming summer. ch-aviation can exclusively report that B737-300 OM-BEX (MSN 24365) along with B737-400s OM-AEX (MSN 25178) and OM-DEX (MSN 28867) will join the Dutch operator's fleet for deployment on seasonal flights from the Netherlands and also on charter services between Ireland and Spain. As previously mentioned, the Slovak operator will also lease out its other B737-400 (MSN 25839 / OM-CEX) to Blue Panorama Airlines (BV, Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO)) until the end of October.

Air Explore (ED, Bratislava Milan Rastislav Stefánik (BTS)) has wet-leased its B737-400 OM-CEX (MSN 25839) to Blue Panorama Airlines (BV, Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO)) for eight months. The aircraft will operate scheduled services on behalf of Blue Panorama's low-cost carrier division Blu Express (Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO)). Blue Panorama already operates two B737-300s and two B737-400s itself.

24OCT2012: Blue Panorama applies for bankruptcy protection, continues operations
Blue Panorama Airlines (BV, Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO)) has filed for bankruptcy protection to be able to restructure its business while continuing normal operations under administration. Since 2008 Italian companies are able to file for bankruptcy protection following a similar legal process to companies filing for Chapter 11 in the United States. Blue Panorama currently operates short-haul scheduled and charter services under the brand of its division Blu Express (Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO)) with two B737-300s and four B737-400s as well as leisure oriented long-haul services with a fleet of four B767-300ERs.

14OCT2012: Flights moved from Catania to Sigonella air force base in November
Air Italy (I9, Milan Malpensa (MXP)) as well as Air One (AP, Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO)), Alitalia (AZ, Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO)), Blue Panorama Airlines (BV, Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO)), Meridiana fly (IG, Olbia Costa Smeralda (OLB)) and international carriers Air Berlin (AB, Berlin Tegel (TXL)), Air Malta (KM, Malta Luqa International (MLA)), Blue Air (Romania) (0B, Bucharest Otopeni Henri Coanda International (OTP)) and easyJet (U2, London Luton (LTN)) will all have to move their operations to Catania Fontanarossa (CTA) to air force base Sigonella (NSY) located approximately 15 kilometres west of Fontanarossa airport between November 5 and December 5. The single runway at Fontanarossa will be closed for repairs during this time. All passengers travelling from Catania will have to check-in and pass security checks at the airport before being driven to the air force base by bus as there is no passenger facility in Sigonella.
