14JAN2013: Indonesia Air Transport adds first A320-200
Indonesia Air Transport - IAT (IDA, Jakarta Halim Perdanakusuma International (HLP)) has leased a first ex-Windjet (IV, Catania Fontanarossa (CTA)) A320-200 PK-TAA that has been delivered to Indonesia on January 12. It plans to base its first jet at Bandung (BDO) and offer daily services from there to Balikpapan Sepinggan (BPN), Medan Polonia (MES), Palembang Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II (PLM) and Pekanbaru Sultan Syarif Kasim II (PKU). IAT also operates an ATR 42-300 on scheduled services from Pontianak Supadio (PNK) and an ATR 42-500 and Fokker 50 on charter services.

21DEC2012: First Nation to resume operations with ILFC A319-100
First Nation Airways (FRN, Lagos Murtala Muhammad (LOS)) has leased an ex-Windjet (IV, Catania Fontanarossa (CTA)) A319-100 (c/n 647) from aircraft lessor ILFC. The aircraft is currently being prepared for the carrier at Dublin International (DUB) and First Nation hopes to resume domestic operations in Nigeria soon with the aircraft. It had returned its three A320-200s to the lessor back in October after having already suspended scheduled operations back in July.

27OCT2012: Meridiana fly assigned traffic rights from Milan-Moscow route
Meridiana fly (IG, Olbia Costa Smeralda (OLB)) has been assigned traffic rights in the Italy-Russia bilateral air services agreement allowing it to launch scheduled services between Milan and Moscow as the second Italian carrier. Alitalia (AZ, Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO)) currently operates two daily services between Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Moscow Sheremetyevo International (SVO) and traffic rights on the route have become available for a second Italian carrier following the suspension of all services by low-cost carrier Windjet (IV, Catania Fontanarossa (CTA)). Meridiana fly already offers seasonal services from both Cagliari Elmas (CAG) and Olbia Costa Smeralda (OLB) to Moscow Domodedovo International (DME).

21SEP2012: Windjet owner announces resumption of services from December
Windjet (IV, Catania Fontanarossa (CTA)) owner Nino Pulvirenti has announced plans to resume operations as early as December with a fleet of four A320-200s that would be based at Catania Fontanarossa (CTA). Pulvirenti is said to have found two new investors including the regional government of Sicily that is expected to take a 5% stake in the low-cost carrier that has ceased operations on August 11.

15SEP2012: Air One announces Catania as its fourth base following Windjet shutdown
Air One (AP, Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO)) has announced that it will base an A320-200 at Catania Fontanarossa (CTA) from October 1 making use of the void left by the suspension of services by Sicilian low-cost carrier Windjet (IV, Catania Fontanarossa (CTA)). It will serve Turin Caselle (TRN) twice daily and Verona Villafranca (VRN) on a daily basis. From December 6 it will then base a second A320-200 in Catania and also serve Venice Marco Polo Tessera (VCE) twice daily. Air One already serves Catania twice daily from its main base at Milan Malpensa (MXP) and daily from Pisa Galileo Galilei International (PSA). Its third base is Venice Marco Polo Tessera (VCE).
