07MAY2013: Air India to resume Delhi - Dharamsala flights from May 15
Air India (AI, Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International (BOM)) is set to resume daily flights between Delhi Indira Gandhi International (DEL) and Dharamsala Gaggal (DHM) effective May 15, Indian Urban Development Minister, Sudhir Sharma, has said. Situated in northern India near picturesque Jammu & Kashmir, the tourism-dependent state of Himachal Pradesh had bemoaned the lack of dedicated air services to India's major airports after Air India suspended flights last year in July. The situation worsened when in September 2012, Kingfisher Airlines (IT, Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International (BOM)) also axed Kulu Bhuntar (KUU) and Shimla (SLV) in addition to Dharamsala, effectively starving the region of much needed clientèle.

30MAR2013: Pelita Air to replace some Dash 7s by ATR72-500s
Pelita Air (6D, Jakarta Halim Perdanakusuma International (HLP)) plans to replace some of its six Dash 7 turboprops by ex-Kingfisher Airlines (IT, Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International (BOM)) ATR72-500s. It will shortly take delivery of a first ex-Kingfisher aircraft (c/n 746) currently being prepared for the carrier mainly operating charter services on behalf of natural resource exploration and mining companies in Indonesia.

03FEB2013: Nok Air takes delivery of first ATR 72-500
Nok Air (DD, Bangkok Don Mueang International (DMK)) has added a first ex-Kingfisher Airlines (IT, Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International (BOM)) ATR 72-500 HS-DRC (c/n 740) to its fleet. It had announced plans last year already to replace its fleet of two ATR 72-200s by newer used ATR 72-500s. Its regional partner Siam General Aviation (5E, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International (BKK)) also operates five Saab 340As under the Nok Mini brand on domestic regional services in Thailand.

14JAN2013: Kingfisher aircraft to be impounded by tax department
Kingfisher Airlines (IT, Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International (BOM)) is facing additional difficulties in its efforts to resume operations after losing its air operator certificate on December 31 already. The Indian Service Tax Department has given the grounded carrier notice that it plans to impound all of the carrier's aircraft currently still stored at various airports in India due to the carrier's debt to the department.

11JAN2013: Spicejet adds Mysore and Pondicherry to network
Spicejet (SG, Delhi Indira Gandhi International (DEL)) has announced plans to add Mysore (MYQ) and Pondicherry (PNY) to its network as new regional destinations in the South of India. It will serve both destinations three times weekly from Bangalore Kempegowda International (BLR) from January 14 and 17 respectively using its fleet of Dash 8-400s. Mysore had previously been served by Kingfisher Airlines (IT, Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International (BOM)) but Pondicherry approximately 120km south of Chennai Meenambakkam (MAA) is a new destination not previously served by any other airline.
