15JUN2013: KLM places orders for four additional 737-800s
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL, Amsterdam) have placed an order with Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) for four more B737-800s, bringing its overall fleet of 737s up to eighteen B737-700s, thirty B737-800s and five B737-900s. The Dutch carrier uses its -800 series to operate flights throughout Western and Eastern Europe as well as to Scandinavia and the Mediterranean.

02JUN2013: Air Algérie to lease two ex-KLM MD-11s following conversion
Air Algérie (AH, Algier) has announced plans to take delivery of two ex-KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL, Amsterdam) MD-11s following their conversion into freighters. The Algerian national carrier is understood to want to lease the freighters on a 5 year contract thereafter. It is uncertain at this time whether this new development will either compliment or supersede a previously announced move to acquire two MD-11(F)s from Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa) for use in Air Algérie's fledgling cargo subsidiary. KLM currently still has six MD-11s in service.

23MAY2013: KLM and Turkish LCC, Pegasus Airlines, sign codeshare, interline deal
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL, Amsterdam) and Turkish LCC, Pegasus Airlines (PC, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen), have signed codeshare and interline agreements effective May 27 for sales and June 3 for travel. Under the deals, passengers will benefit from quick and easy transfers between Pegasus flights and KLM flights at Amsterdam with KLM codesharing on Pegasus flights from Amsterdam to Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen and Izmir.

22MAY2013: Jet Airways to switch hub from Brussels to Amsterdam - Hogan
Jet Airways (9W, Mumbai Int'l) is planning to transfer its ‘scissor hub’ from Brussels National to Amsterdam, Etihad CEO James Hogan, said at a press conference in Amsterdam on May 21. The move comes on the back of a new four-month old co-operation agreement between KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL, Amsterdam) and Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi Int'l), owners of a 24% stake in the Indian carrier. Jet Airways operates flights from Delhi Int'l and Mumbai Int'l in India to Newark, Toronto Pearson in North America via Brussels. Mr. Hogan gave no timescale as to when the transfers would take place.

19MAY2013: KLM elaborates on its B777-300(ER)s deal due in 2015
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL, Amsterdam) has elaborated on previously announced plans to acquire an additional B777-300(ER). According to the Dutch airline, the aircraft is part of a delivery of two 777-300(ER)s due in spring 2015: one direct from Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) due in April 2015 and the other on lon- term lease from Los Angeles-based aircraft lease specialists, Air Lease Corporation, due in March 2015. Further to that, KLM plans to extend leases for three B737-800s and a B777-200(ER) currently operating in its fleet.
