    Korongo Airlines (ZC, Lubumbashi) is planning to add a second B737-300 and an unspecified 50-seater turboprop to its fleet as part of growth plans, CEO Christophe Allard has disclosed. Speaking to the Congolese press, Mr Allard said that the added aircraft would replace two Bae 146-200s, that have subsequently been returned to their owners, that had not proven suitable to either the Congolese market or climate. Mr Allard bemoaned the Congo's poor aeronautical infrastructure which, he said, discouraged new, potentially lucrative, routes from being opened.

    Korongo Airlines (ZC, Lubumbashi) has temporarily withdrawn its sole aircraft, a B737-300 OO-LTM (msn 25070), from active service following an unspecified incident which occurred while it was taxiing to its parking position at Lubumbashi on Friday evening. In the meantime, a replacement B737-300(QC) ZS-ASL (msn 24387) has been wet-leased from South Africa's Safair (FA, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) to service flights to Kinshasa N'Djili, Mbuji Mayi and Johannesburg O.R. Tambo until OO-LTM is airworthy once more.

    Korongo Airlines (ZC, Lubumbashi) has retired its only Bae 146-200 OO-DJJ (MSN 2196) and has returned the aircraft to parent Brussels Airlines (SN, Brussels National) that will not operate the aircraft in Europe anymore. Korongo will continue its operations in the DR Congo with its single B737-300 OO-LTM (MSN 25070) also wet-leased from Brussels Airlines. It currently operates from Lubumbashi to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo, Kinshasa N'Djili and Mbuji Mayi.

    Brussels Airlines (SN, Brussels National) has withdrawn its last B737-300 OO-VEN (MSN 28586) and last B737-400 OO-VET (MSN 28202) from scheduled service by the end of November. It still continues to operate a single B737-300 OO-LTM (MSN 25070) on behalf of subsidiary Korongo Airlines (ZC, Lubumbashi) in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

    Korongo Airlines (ZC, Lubumbashi) has announced April 16 as its launch date for scheduled services from its Lubumbashi base. The Brussels Airlines (SN, Brussels National) subsidiary will initially serve Kinshasa N'Djili eight times weekly and Johannesburg O.R. Tambo twice weekly and plans to add Kolwezi and Mbuji Mayi next. Three of the eight weekly Lubumbashi-Kinshasa services will operate as international flights where passengers clear immigration and customs in Lubumbashi and then connect directly from/to Brussels Airlines flights in Kinshasa.
