15FEB2013: Fly Jamaica has launch New York flights on February 14
Fly Jamaica Airways (OJ, Kingston Norman Manley International (KIN)) has now finally launched scheduled operations on the route from Kingston Norman Manley to New York John F. Kennedy International (JFK) on February 14 using its only aircraft, ex-Aurela (LSK, Vilnius International (VNO)) B757-200 N524AT (MSN 30233). It offers four daily services on the route and previously delayed its launch several times for various reasons.

26SEP2012: Monarch cancels wet-lease with Aurela following Birmingham incident
Monarch Airlines (ZB, London Luton (LTN)) has cancelled its wet-lease agreement with Lithuanian charter carrier Aurela (LSK, Vilnius International (VNO)) with immediate effect after one the latter's B737-300s (LY-SKA, MSN 23972) has overrun the runway at Birmingham International (BHX) on landing on a flight for Monarch from Nice Côte d'Azur (NCE). Monarch has wet-leased several aircraft to increase its capacity temporarily because of high demand during the summer months. It currently also uses two B737-400s from Air Explore (ED, Bratislava Milan Rastislav Stefánik (BTS)) and Air Italy (I9, Milan Malpensa (MXP)) as well as a B757-200 from Titan Airways (ZT, London Stansted (STN)).

12JUL2012: Leeds/Bradford sixth UK base for Monarch Airlines
Monarch Airlines (ZB, London Luton (LTN)) has announced Leeds/Bradford International (LBA) as its sixth base in the United Kingdom with two A320-200s to be based at the airport from March 22, 2013. It currently already operates scheduled services from its bases at Birmingham International (BHX), East Midlands (EMA), London Gatwick (LGW), London Luton (LTN) and Manchester Ringway International (MAN). From Leeds/Bradford it will serve Antalya (AYT), Barcelona El Prat International (BCN), Bodrum Milas (BJV), Dalaman (DLM), Faro (FAO), Heraklion Nikos Kazantzakis (HER), Lanzarote Arrecife (ACE), Larnaca (LCA), Menorca Mahón (MAH), Palma de Mallorca Son Sant Joan (PMI), Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO) and Tenerife Sur (TFS) in addition to Grenoble St. Geoirs (GNB) and Munich Franz Josef Strauss International (MUC) flights already being launched as ski routes in December. It will continue to serve Munich as a year-round destination from LBA. This summer, Monarch will wet-lease two B737-300s from Aurela (LSK, Vilnius International (VNO)) and Small Planet Airlines (S5, Vilnius International (VNO)) as well as two B737-400s from Air Explore (ED, Bratislava Milan Rastislav Stefánik (BTS)) and Air Italy (I9, Milan Malpensa (MXP)) from the end of July to be able to offer additional flights during the peak leisure travel season in the UK.
