25DEC2012: Hispania stops operations already after just 15 days
Hispania Airways (Granada (GRX)) has announced on Friday, December 21, that it has suspended all operations with immediate effect just 15 days after its operational launch on December 6. The virtual carrier had wet-leased MD-83 YR-HBY (MSN 49950) from Medallion Air (MDP, Bucharest Baneasa (BBU)) for routes from Granada to Barcelona El Prat International (BCN), London Gatwick (LGW), Madrid Barajas (MAD), Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO). Hispania and its ticketing agent Vista Travel are both blaming each other for the failure of the new start-up carrier with Hispania promising full refunds to customers and a resumption of services thanks to a new unnamed US investor.

09NOV2012: Ukrainian charter start-up Bravo Air adds first MD-83
Bravo Air (BAY, Kiev Borispol (KBP)) has taken delivery of an ex-Medallion Air (MDP, Bucharest Baneasa (BBU)) MD-83 UR-CKN (MSN 53186) that been ferried to Kiev Borispol (KBP). Bravo Air is a new Ukrainian charter carrier and this MD-83 built in 1994 is its first aircraft, but its exact operational plans are still unknown.

03SEP2012: Air Vallée pulls out of Parma, just operates Turin-Pescara going forward
Air Vallée (DO, Aosta Corrado Gex (AOT)) will close its base at Parma Giuseppe Verdi (PMF) from September 3 where it had still operated routes to Catania Fontanarossa (CTA) and Olbia Costa Smeralda (OLB). It had initially planned to build up Parma as its largest base in its network serving a wide range of destinations with larger aircraft including a MD-83 temporarily wet-leased from Medallion Air (MDP, Bucharest Baneasa (BBU)). Air Vallée will now continue to operate just a single scheduled route between Turin Caselle (TRN) and Pescara Abruzzo International (PSR) that it has already served for years.

20AUG2012: Livingston Air temporarily takes over Windjet routes with tour operators
Livingston Air (JN, Milan Malpensa (MXP)) has temporarily taken over some of the routes left unserved following the collapse of Italian low-cost carrier Windjet (IV, Catania Fontanarossa (CTA)). Livingston is operating some flights from Catania Fontanarossa (CTA) to Barcelona El Prat International (BCN), Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Copenhagen Kastrup (CPH), Rimini Federico Fellini International (RMI) and St. Petersburg Pulkovo (LED), from Palermo Falcone e Borsellino International (PMO) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) as well as from Rimini Federico Fellini International (RMI) to Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS), Bucharest Otopeni Henri Coanda International (OTP), Copenhagen Kastrup (CPH), Moscow Domodedovo International (DME), Kiev Borispol (KBP), Prague Vaclav Havel Ruzyne (PRG), Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Rostov (ROV) and St. Petersburg Pulkovo (LED). Flights to Eastern Europe are operated by Livingston itself with an A320-200 based in Rimini while the domestic flights and routes to Central and Western Europe are operated by two Medallion Air (MDP, Bucharest Baneasa (BBU)) MD-83s on a wet-lease basis. Livingston currently wet-leases A320-200 SX-BTP from Sky Wings Airlines (ND, Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International (ATH)) and MD-83s YR-HBE (MSN 49396) and YR-HBY (49950) from Medallion Air. Given it had never operated scheduled services before, it currently sells its flights scheduled until October 27 in cooperation with Trawel Fly (Milan Orio al Serio (BGY)). It is not yet clear if it plans to continue to operate these services in cooperation with various tour operators in the medium term.
