04DEC2012: First own B767-300 delivered to SBA Airlines
SBA Airlines (S3, Maracaibo La Chinita (MAR)) has taken delivery of its first of two ex-Mexicana (MX, México City Benito Juárez International (MEX)) B767-300ERs YV528T (MSN 24349) with a second aircraft (MSN 23764) still being prepared for the Venezuelan carrier at Miami International (MIA). SBA currently wet-leases two B767-300ERs from Icelandair (FI, Reykjavik Keflavik (KEF)) and its subsidiary SmartLynx Airlines (6Y, Riga International (RIX)).

15NOV2012: Sudanese domestic carrier Tarco adds first A320-200
Tarco Air (3T, Khartoum (KRT)) has taken delivery of an A320-200 C5-AAO (c/n 368) operated by Gambian ACMI specialist Aeolus Air (AAZ, Banjul International (BJL)). The ex-Mexicana (MX, México City Benito Juárez International (MEX)) aircraft had originally been expected to be operated by Aeolus on behalf of Marsland Aviation (M7, Khartoum (KRT)) but has now been delivered to Khartoum in Tarco colours.

Marsland Aviation (M7, Khartoum (KRT)) is about to take delivery of its first ex-Mexicana (MX, México City Benito Juárez International (MEX)) A320-200 C5-AAO (c/n 368) that will be wet-leased from its partner Aeolus Air (AAZ, Banjul International (BJL)). Marsland already wet-leases B737-500 C5-AAN from Aeolus Air.

21MAY2012: Mexicana to return to the skies in June already?
Mexicana (MX, México City Benito Juárez International (MEX)) has now been fully acquired by investment group Med Atlantica that has finally taken control of the bankrupt carrier on May 11. Med Atlantica plans to resume operations in June with up to nine aircraft but it remains to be seen if that will be all that simple given the carrier has not flown since 2010.

AeroMéxico (AM, México City Benito Juárez International (MEX)) has signed lease agreements with ILFC for two additional B787-8s that it requires to replace its larger fleet of B767-200ERs following the collapse of former competitor Mexicana (MX, México City Benito Juárez International (MEX)). It now has a total of seven B787-8s on order to replace its seven B767-200ERs.
