S7 Airlines (S7, Novosibirsk) also known as Sibir Airlines (S7, Novosibirsk), will see its current 71.3% majority shareholder, S7 Group, acquire the Russian Government's 25.5% stake in the company for USD35.6million (RUB1.13billion). According to Alfa-bank, the transaction's overseer, S7's bid was 1% higher than the original asking price. According to Interfax News Agency, Russia's Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimushchestvo) had been trying to sell its 25.5% stake in Sibir since 2001, but all of the auctions had fallen through due to a lack of bids. This time round however, while four bids were received, only three met benchmark requirements: that from S7, Evrofinansy-Nedvizhimost LLC and Fondovye Strategicheskie Initsiativy LLC. Moscow still has 45 days to approve the deal.
