11MAR2013: Luxair to use XL Airways France B737-800 this summer
Luxair (LG, Luxembourg Findel International (LUX)) will wet-lease a B737-800 from French leisure carrier XL Airways France (SE, Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG)) this summer season to complement its own B737-800 LX-LGU (MSN 41047) and three B737-700s. The aircraft will be based in Luxembourg from April 20 to November 3 and mainly operate on leisure oriented scheduled services that Luxair operates in cooperation with its own and other tour operators. XL Airways France's bankrupt sister carrier XL Airways Germany (X4, Frankfurt International (FRA)) had operated these flights last year with one of its B737-800s.

02MAR2013: XL Airways France returns only A320-200 to lessor
XL Airways France (SE, Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG)) has returned its only remaining A320-200 F-GKHK (c/n 343) to the lessor. It will continue to operate three B737-800s on its short-haul services. XL also operates two A330-200s and an A330-300 on long-haul routes and wet-leases an additional third A330-200 from Air Transat (TS, Montréal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International (YUL)) until the end of the winter charter season.

09NOV2012: XL Airways France sale to X-Air Aviation confirmed
XL Airways France (SE, Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG)) has announced that it has been sold by Icelandic bank Straumur to X-Air Aviation, a subsidiary of Swiss-US investment group BeachSide Capital, on November 7. BeachSide Capital already owns XL Airways Germany (X4, Frankfurt International (FRA)) which shares its name with XL Airways France as the two carriers were both owned by XL Airways UK (JN, London Gatwick (LGW)) until the latter went out of business in 2008.

XL Airways France (SE, Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG)) will likely be sold to Swiss-US investment group BeachSide Capital which already owns XL Airways Germany (X4, Frankfurt International (FRA)) as well. According to a news report by Challenges.fr, XL Airways France's current owner Straumur, an Icelandic bank, has entered into exclusive negotiations with BeachSide about a deal that would be expected to be reached by November. XL Airways France currently operates a single A320-200, three B737-800s and two A330-200s on scheduled and charter services.

21SEP2012: XL Airways France operates A330-200 for Garuda during Hajj
XL Airways France (SE, Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG)) has wet-leased one of its two A330-200s F-GSEU (c/n 635) to Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International (CGK)) for this year's Hajj season. Garuda operates a huge amount of Hajj pilgrimage charters each year with own and wet-leased aircraft to accomodate the rising demand of Indonesia's majority Muslim population to perform Hajj. Garuda has so far taken delivery of a total of 15 wet-leased widebody aircraft this year that will temporarily operate between Indonesia and Saudi-Arabia.
