27JUL2012: Arctic Sunwest acquired by Ledcor, starts Canadian North wet-lease
Arctic Sunwest Charters (ASC, Yellowknife (YZF)) has been acquired by the Ledcor Group of Companies, which also owns Summit Air Charters (Yellowknife (YZF)). Both carriers offer charter services from Yellowknife with a variety of turboprop aircraft. Summit currently operates Do228s and Shorts Skyvans. Arctic Sunwest operates Dash 8-100s, DHC-6s, DHC-5s and smaller turboprop and piston powered aircraft. Meanwhile, Arctic Sunwest has started operating one of its Dash 8-100s on a wet-lease basis for Canadian North (5T, Yellowknife (YZF)) operating from Yellowknife to Cambridge Bay (YCB), Gjoa Haven (YHK), Kugaruk/Pelly Bay (YBB) and Kuglutuk/Coppermine (YCO).
