12NOV2012: EZjet Air Services suspends operations after argument with Swift Air
EZjet Air Services (Georgetown Cheddi Jagan International (GEO)) has at least temporarily suspended its scheduled flights from Georgetown Cheddi Jagan International (GEO) and Port of Spain Piarco International (POS) to New York John F. Kennedy International (JFK) and Toronto Lester B. Pearson International (YYZ) on November 7. EZjet blames its charter operator Swift Air (USA) (Q7, Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX)) for the suspension of services saying Swift Air would owe EZjet money for charges EZjet would have incurred because of flights Swift Air had previously cancelled. Swift Air claims that EZjet would not have paid its invoices for flights operated in the past.

01JUL2012: Saipan Air gives up start-up plans and ceases operations
Saipan Air (Saipan Francisco C. Ada International (SPN)) has announced that it has now given up its plans to start scheduled charter operations from Saipan to China and Japan following its operator Swift Air (USA) (Q7, Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX)) bankruptcy filing. According to Swift Air's filing it owes Saipan Air $1.3 million in payments taken for the wet-lease agreement it has now cancelled. Saipan Air owner Tan Holdings has announced that it considers taking legal action against the owners of Swift Air for criminal possible criminal activities.

01JUL2012: Charter operator Swift Air files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection
Swift Air (USA) (Q7, Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX)) has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on June 27. The ACMI and charter operator has a B727-200 Adv., three B737-400s, two B767-200s and six ERJ-135s in its fleet that it mainly operates on behalf of other carriers, sports teams and private individuals. Its biggest creditors are lessor ILFC and Saipan Air (Saipan Francisco C. Ada International (SPN)) which had planned to start operations on July 1 with two ex-North American Airlines (NA, New York John F. Kennedy International (JFK)) B757-200s of Swift Air from Saipan to China and Japan. While Swift Air has been unable to provide the B757-200s to Saipan Air, it continues to operate limited charter operations and hopes to restructure under Chapter 11.

27JUN2012: Saipan Air blames Swift Air for delay in start-up plans
Saipan Air (Saipan Francisco C. Ada International (SPN)) has publicly blamed its contract partner Swift Air (USA) (Q7, Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX)) for an indefinite delay in its start-up of operations which were scheduled to start on July 1 with daily flights from Saipan Francisco C. Ada International (SPN) to Tokyo Narita New Tokyo International (NRT) and four weekly flights to Beijing Capital (PEK). According to Saipan Air, Swift Air would have defaulted on the charter agreement. It was planning to use two B757-200s from Swift Air for the first flights and to add a B737-400 also wet-leased from Swift to add Osaka Kansai International (KIX) and Shenyang Taoxian International (SHE) from August.

Saipan Air (Saipan Francisco C. Ada International (SPN)) plans to start public charter operations on July 1 offering daily services from Saipan Francisco C. Ada International (SPN) to Tokyo Narita New Tokyo International (NRT) and four weekly flights to Beijing Capital (PEK) using two ex-North American Airlines (NA, New York John F. Kennedy International (JFK)) B757-200s N752NA (MSN 28174) and N755NA (MSN 30043) operated by Swift Air (USA) (Q7, Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX)). It will add daily services to Osaka Kansai International (KIX) and three weekly B757 flights to Shenyang Taoxian International (SHE) on August 1. For the Osaka services, it will add B737-400 N737DX (MSN 24804) that will also be wet-leased from Swift Air.
