21SEP2012: EgyptAir and CiTylinK announce joint venture plans in Ghana
EgyptAir (MS, Cairo International (CAI)) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with regional carrier CiTylinK (CTQ, Accra Kotoka (ACC)) to jointly "promote air transportation in West Africa". EgyptAir had previously already announced its intention to invest in Ghana and to set up a subsidiary there. It is expected that EgyptAir will provide Embraer regional jets to CiTylinK eventually transforming it into a local feeder carrier. CiTylinK had operated domestic flights in Ghana with a Fokker 100 wet-leased from Trade Air (8P, Zagreb Pleso (ZAG)) until August 26 when it has suspended all operations. It currently plans to resume twice daily service from Accra to both Kumasi (KMS) and Takoradi (TKD) on October 1, presumably with its Saab 340As. EgyptAir currently serves Accra four times weekly from Cairo with B737-800 equipment.

12AUG2012: Ghanaian regional CiTylinK temporarily suspends operations
CiTylinK (CTQ, Accra Kotoka (ACC)) has at least temporarily suspended operations with no future flights on sale until August 26 when it seems to be planning to resume two daily round-trips from Accra to Kumasi (KMS) and Takoradi (TKD). It currently competes with Antrak Air (O4, Accra Kotoka (ACC)), Fly540 Ghana (5G, Accra Kotoka (ACC)) and Starbow Airlines (S9, Accra Kotoka (ACC)) on domestic routes using a Fokker 100 wet-leased from Trade Air (8P, Zagreb Pleso (ZAG)) that has replaced its own Saab 340As on scheduled flights.
