Alitalia Express (XM, Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO)) has now retired its last EMB-170 and has added A320-200 EI-DSC (c/n 2995) to its air operator certificate instead. It will operate the aircraft on behalf of Alitalia on various routes and Alitalia will continue to offer some services from/to Milan Linate (LIN) under Alitalia Express' XM code to make use of the slots its regional subsidiary still holds there and cannot legally just transfer to its parent.

Alitalia Express (XM, Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO)) will receive a single A320-200 from parent Alitalia (AZ/Rome Fiumicino) so its air operator certificate and the valuable slots at Milan Linate attached to it can be retained when its last EMB-170 is transferred to Régional (YS/Nantes) in early 2012.

Alitalia Express (XM, Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO)) will replace its fleet of six EMB-170s by 15 EMB-175s and five EMB-190s that parent Alitalia (AZ/Rome Fiumicino) will lease from Air Lease Corporation. Deliveries are expected to be starting in August 2011. The new aircraft will also replace the CRJ-900 fleet of sister carrier Air One CityLiner (CT/Rome Fiumicino).
