MD-87s to be phased out by Air Uganda
Air Uganda (U7, Entebbe/Kampala) plans to retire its remaining two MD-87s 5X-UGA (MSN 49840) and 5X-UGB (MSN 49837) later this year concentrating on its regional operations with two CRJ-200s. Air Uganda currently serves Bujumbura, Dar-es-Salaam, Juba, Kigali, Mombasa and Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta from Entebbe/Kampala with the MD-87s just used on the Juba route according to its schedules. This would leave Air Burkina (2J, Ouagadougou) as its only sister carrier still operating two MD-87s after Air Mali (I5, Bamako) had already retired its MD-80 fleet earlier this year.
