Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) and United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) have offered the European Commission to give up slots at Frankfurt International and either New York JFK or New York Newark to allow a competitor to launch a new daily service on the route asking the Commission to in return stop the investigations launched in 2009 to look into the A++ joint venture’s competitive position on the route. Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau) and United as well as Lufthansa and its subsidiaries have formed the A++ JV for all routes between the European Union and North America and share revenues and costs on these flights. Lufthansa currently operates two daily services to JFK with a mix of A330-300s and A340-600s and a daily B747-400 service to Newark while United offers two daily B767-400 services to Newark. The only competitors against the five daily services are Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) with a daily B767-300ER service and Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi) with its daily Singapore Changi-Frankfurt-JFK service with an B777-300(ER) in winter and A380-800 in summer.
