Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith) has announced that it has cancelled one of fifteen B787-8 orders for its low-cost carrier subsidiary Jetstar Airways (JQ, Melbourne Tullamarine). The cancellation has already taken place prior to the grounding of all B787-8s worldwide earlier this week and Qantas still has five B787-8s for itself and fourteen B787-8s for JetStar on order. Qantas has however announced that it plans to add five additional used B717-200s and three new Dash 8-400s to its domestic fleet from the second half of 2013. Cobham Aviation Services Australia - Airline Services (QJE, Adelaide International) currently operates 13 B717-200s on behalf of Qantas already. The order for three additional Dash 8-400s has already been confirmed by Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) and the aircraft are expected to be operated by Qantas subsidiary Sunstate Airlines (SSQ, Brisbane International) which already operates 27 of the regional aircraft and is about to take delivery of a 28th Dash 8-400 shortly.
