EgyptAir (MS, Cairo International) will likely be affected by new cost cutting measures set to come in effect from June at its hub, Cairo International. Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister, Wael al-Maddawy, recently announced that Cairo International is to partially close from 01h30 to 05h30 (local time) effective June 1 as a result of “a huge decline in airport traffic and revenues” over the last two years. He went on to say that only one of Cairo’s three runways will remain operational for any inbound/outbound flights during those hours, as keeping all three of Cairo’s runways operational 24 hours a day was no longer financially feasible.
