Norwegian Long Haul (Oslo Gardermoen) is reportedly pursuing its own Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) and Air Carrier Operating Licence (ACOL) with the Irish Commission for Aviation Regulation (CAR). In June, Norwegian obtained temporary approval from the Irish authorities to register their fleet of six B787-8s in Ireland; an arrangement that will expire on December 24. According to Scandinavian news reports, parent Norwegian (Oslo Gardermoen) is in the process of finalizing and submitting its documentation to the Irish aviation authorities. The airline uses the Irish registry as a means of circumventing restrictive Norwegian laws that bar airlines from hiring cheaper Asian cabin crews. However, Norwegian law also forbids any carrier registered in the country from operating aircraft registered in another on a permanent basis, thereby leading to speculation that Norwegian Long Haul may be forced to re-register itself in Ireland.
