Dutch Antilles Express (Curacao) has been declared bankrupt by the Court of First Instance of Curaçao at the behest of the airline's employees, Zakenreisnieuws.nl has reported. In their submission, the employees argued that the airline declaring bankruptcy was the only way for them to recover any of the monies still owed to them after having gone for more than two months without being paid. The onset of DAE's financial woes first surfaced in May when USD20million in remittances was reportedly frozen in Venezuela after authorities there moved to block the airline from operating to the country citing alleged safety oversights.
