Kingfisher Airlines (Mumbai International) aircraft that have lain idle following the carrier's collapse in 2012 are to be repossessed by lessor, Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services (AWAS). Reports in India's The Hindu newspaper state the fourteen aircraft, which include seven A320-200s, are still stored at various airports around the country despite the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation giving the lessor the go-ahead to repossess its aircraft in March 2012. AWAS has now approached the Union Commerce Ministry for permission to have the machines repaired at GMR Hyderabad Aviation SEZ Ltd. Prior to its collapse, the bulk of Kingfisher's sixty-strong fleet had been sourced from various global aircraft lessors, including AWAS, Aviation Capital Group, BOC Aviation and AerCap.
