Yamal Airlines (YC, Salekhard) has temporarily withdrawn its fleet of B737s from revenue service last week in light of recent findings in the Tatarstan Air (Kazan International) B737-500, VQ-BBN (msn 24785), crash in Kazan International late last year. The carrier said in a statement it had withdrawn its fleet of six B737-500s and three B737-400s in order to carry out checks aimed at "reducing the risk of spontaneous deviations and/or jamming of the elevator" as what happened in the case of VQ-BBN. Yamal also operates seven A320-200s, two A321-200s and nine CRJ200s. Checks have already been completed on some of Yamal's B737-500s with aircraft gradually being returned to operations.
