Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International) is reportedly in talks with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) over the B777X. According to Qatar Airways CEO, Akbar Al Baker, the next generation B777 will fit nicely into the Qatari carrier's long term expansion plans which will also include 37 A350-1000s and 43 A350-900S - the 777X's primary competitors. With its first four of ten A380-800s due later this year, Qatar Airways is also planning to launch a further 12 routes this year, though this is above all, dependent on the resolution of the B787-8's on-going problems Al Baker concluded.
