News of the airline industry
Adria Airways (JP/Ljubljana) will launch six times weekly CRJ-200 service from Ljubljana to Belgrade on March 1. It has however given up its Ljubljana-Ohrid route. Adria will be forced to move its operations from Ljubljana to Maribor between April 7 and April 20 when Ljubljana airport will be closed for runway renovation works. easyJet (U2/London Luton) will temporarily suspend its London Luton-Ljubljana route during this period. Jat Airways (JU/Belgrade) will move its services to Portoroz and Turkish Airlines (TK/Istanbul Ataturk) is reportedly also considering serving Maribor. It is unclear at this point what alternatives will be chosen by Air France (AF/Paris CDG), CSA Czech Airlines (OK/Prague) and Montenegro Airlines (YM/Podgorica), the other carriers serving Ljubljana on a scheduled basis.

Aegean Airlines (A3/Athens) has announced that it has applied for 11 public service obligation routes out of Athens and Thessaloniki. Greece will award the routes to a new carrier as of April 1 when the current contract with Olympic Airways (OP/Athens) expires. It has also announced new routes:

Aer Arann (RE/Dublin) has entered into negotiations about a closer cooperation with Aer Lingus (EI/Dublin) that reportedly is based around a proposal that Aer Arann would operate feeder services on behalf or in close cooperation with Aer Lingus from the various UK airports to Dublin and Cork. Aer Arann is reportedly considering leasing a BAe 146-200 again.

Aer Lingus (EI/Dublin) has started to operate its services from Belfast Intl and London Gatwick under the air operator certificate of Astraeus (5W/London Gatwick) and has announced plans to apply for an own UK operating license. It is unclear whether this plan is still current given its decision to cut back its London Gatwick base significantly. Aer Lingus will give up its routes from London Gatwick to Lanzarote on February 13, to Faro and Tenerife Sur on February 21, to Munich and Zurich on February 24, to Bucharest Otopeni and Vienna on March 6 and to Eindhoven, Vilnius and Warsaw on March 27. It will however launch twice daily A320-200 service from Cork to London Gatwick on March 6 and also retain its Gatwick routes to Dublin, Knock and Malaga. Aer Lingus is reportedly considering selling four A320-200s, three A321-200s to raise funds for its restructuring plan that also includes deferring deliveries of the two A320-200s on order for fall 2010 by six months.
