AeroCardal (CDA, Santiago de Chile) suspended its twice weekly flights from Santiago de Chile to Vallenar on October 26 citing a downturn in various mining, agricultural and industrial investments in the Atacama region. El Noticiero del Huasco says that prior to 2013, the Do328-100-operated flights had operated at 85% occupancy. The airline however has not dispelled a resumption of services to the region should the local economy pick up. Aerocardal continues to offer VIP and air ambulance charter flights.
