CiTylinK (Accra) and shareholder EgyptAir (MS, Cairo International) are to proceed with the establishment of a new rejuvenated Ghanaian carrier, Aviation journalist Martin Rivers has reported. Minister of Civil Aviation, Abdel Aziz Fadel, confirmed the Egyptians would re-equip CiTyLink with E170s initially with B737-800s to come later. In the long term, he said, EgyptAir aims to establish feeder carriers and hubs in Central and East Africa, a move that closely mimics the Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa International) strategy. Not to be outdone, South African Airways (SA, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) has also announced plans to establish its own West African hub at some point in the near future.
