15MAY2013: Maastricht Airlines' launch pushed back to September at the earliest
Maastricht Airlines (Maastricht Zuid-Limburg (MST)) is to postpone the launch of its planned début Maastricht Zuid-Limburg (MST) to Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) route until "at least" September 3. The airline's inaugural launch has already been postponed twice owing to unspecified issues with its fleet of two ex-Air Baltic (BT, Riga International (RIX)) Fokker 50s leased from Italian cargo operator MiniLiner (MNL, Milan Orio al Serio (BGY)). According to some reports, the F50s are in need of "an additional 1'800 hours of maintenance" before they can enter service.
06MAY2013: Latvia's Air Baltic outlines its planned 757 Summer operations
Air Baltic (BT, Riga International (RIX)) is planning to use its B757-200, YL-BDC (c/n 902), on its Riga International (RIX) to Moscow Sheremetyevo International (SVO), Barcelona El Prat International (BCN), Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), London Gatwick (LGW), Vilnius International (VNO) and Tallinn Ülemiste (TLL) flights this June. YL-BDC has recently returned from service in Cambodia where it was leased by TonléSap Airlines (K9, Phnom Penh Pochentong International (PNH)), who recently suspended operations pending financial restructuring.
26APR2013: Air Baltic to redeploy its B757-200 on its network in June
Air Baltic (BT, Riga International (RIX)) is set to redeploy one of its two B757-200s, YL-BDC (c/n 902), back into active service from June onwards, ch-aviation can exclusively reveal. The aircraft had been leased to TonléSap Airlines (K9, Phnom Penh Pochentong International (PNH)) as XU-882 though was returned to Air Baltic after the Cambodian carrier recently suspended operations pending financial restructuring.
25APR2013: Palau Airways, TonléSap Airlines suspend flights until autumn
Palau Airways (P7, Koror Babelthuap (ROR)) and its sister carrier, TonléSap Airlines (K9, Phnom Penh Pochentong International (PNH)), have both suspended their flights effective immediately. It is understood that both airlines have temporarily ceased operations for the summer with the intention of refinancing themselves and ultimately resuming operations sometime "in the autumn". The two carriers had wet- and dry-leased a B737-300, a B737-400 and two B757-200s from European carriers Air Explore (ED, Bratislava Milan Rastislav Stefánik (BTS)) and Air Baltic (BT, Riga International (RIX)).
17APR2013: No luck for Maastricht Airlines as inaugural flight is postponed again
Maastricht Airlines (Maastricht Zuid-Limburg (MST)) has had to postpone its planned launch once more owing to further delays in the delivery of its planned fleet of two ex-Air Baltic (BT, Riga International (RIX)) Fokker 50 fleet. Originally scheduled to have launched flights to Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS), Berlin Tegel (TXL) and Munich Franz Josef Strauss International (MUC) from March 25, the Dutch operator was forced to defer its launch until May 1 owing unspecified issues with the first aircraft's delivery. However, on April 16, Maastricht Airlines once more informed the public that the May 1 launch was no longer tenable as neither of the F50s would be in service by that date. Hamid Kerboua, CEO Maastricht Airlines, went on to add that the company was doing "everything possible to secure aircraft in order to start operations as soon as possible."
