Maastricht Airlines (Maastricht) is to postpone the launch of its planned début Maastricht to Amsterdam route until "at least" September 3. The airline's inaugural launch has already been postponed twice owing to unspecified issues with its fleet of two ex-Air Baltic (BT, Riga) Fokker 50s leased from Italian cargo operator MiniLiner (MNL, Milan Orio al Serio). According to some reports, the F50s are in need of "an additional 1'800 hours of maintenance" before they can enter service.

Palau Airways (P7, Koror) and its sister carrier, TonléSap Airlines (K9, Phnom Penh), have both suspended their flights effective immediately. It is understood that both airlines have temporarily ceased operations for the summer with the intention of refinancing themselves and ultimately resuming operations sometime "in the autumn". The two carriers had wet- and dry-leased a B737-300, a B737-400 and two B757-200s from European carriers Air Explore (ED, Bratislava) and Air Baltic (BT, Riga).
  • Read More 17APR2013: No luck for Maastricht Airlines as inaugural flight is postponed again
Maastricht Airlines (Maastricht) has had to postpone its planned launch once more owing to further delays in the delivery of its planned fleet of two ex-Air Baltic (BT, Riga) Fokker 50 fleet. Originally scheduled to have launched flights to Amsterdam, Berlin Tegel and Munich from March 25, the Dutch operator was forced to defer its launch until May 1 owing unspecified issues with the first aircraft's delivery. However, on April 16, Maastricht Airlines once more informed the public that the May 1 launch was no longer tenable as neither of the F50s would be in service by that date. Hamid Kerboua, CEO Maastricht Airlines, went on to add that the company was doing "everything possible to secure aircraft in order to start operations as soon as possible."
