08FEB2013: Kam-Air removed from US military blacklist
Kam-Air (RQ, Kabul) has been temporarily removed from a blacklist of the United States military again following protests by the Afghan government. The US military accuses Kam-Air of being involved in drug smuggling between Afghanistan and Tajikistan and had implemented a ban on Kam-Air preventing its staff from using the airline's flights. The US military has announced earlier this week that some of its officials had met with the Afghan government offering information that led to the ban. Afghanistan has now agreed to investigate the claims in return provided the ban is temporarily lifted again.

01FEB2013: Kam-Air threatens lawsuit over US drug trafficking claims
Kam-Air (RQ, Kabul) has been accused by the US military of being involved in drug smuggling from Afghanistan to Tajikistan reportedly transporting opium on some of its flights. The US military has now internally blacklisted Kam-Air no longer allowing its personel to travel on the airline's services. Kam-Air owner Zamari Kamgar has called the allegations "baseless, unbelievable and insulting" in an interview with news agency AFP. The Afghan government has called on the US military to provide evidence for its allegations. Kam-Air offers five weekly services between Kabul and Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe with MD-82s and MD-83s.

24DEC2012: MD-87 put in service on domestic Kam-Air routes
Kam-Air (RQ, Kabul) has put its only ex-SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup) MD-87 YA-KMO (MSN 53010) into scheduled service on domestic services in Afghanistan. The aircraft is currently used on Kam-Air’s domestic network from Kabul to Bost, Herat, Kandahar, Maimana, Mazar i Sharif, Tirinkot and Kunduz.

08AUG2012: Kam-Air to lease two B747-200F freighters for cargo flights
Kam-Air (RQ, Kabul) is planning to lease two ex-AirBridge Cargo (RU, Ulyanovsk Vostochny) B747-200(F) freighters (MSNs 24576 and 25171) for cargo services. It had previously used two DC-8-63(F) freighters in 2010 but then given up any cargo fleet ambitions in the meantime.
