Austrian Airlines (OS, Vienna) has announced plans to close subsidiary Lauda Air (Vienna) by March 2013 as part of its restructuring plans. Lauda Air currently still holds an own air operator certificate and operates a single B737-800 OE-LNK (MSN 28178) on behalf of Austrian Airlines. The Lauda Air brand is mainly used to sell Austrian Airlines and Tyrolean Airways (Innsbruck) aircraft capacity to tour operators and to sell seats on these leisure flights operated in cooperation with tour operators directly to the general public. In other news, Austrian has been forced to announce the temporary suspension of its services between Vienna and Tehran Imam Khomeini for the period of June 14 to August 31 as Iranian authorities have announced they will not provide fuel to Austrian and other European airlines during that timeframe.
