JAL - Japan Airlines (JL, Tokyo Haneda) has retired the last two (JA8020, MSN 53360 and JA8029, MSN 53361) of its sixteen MD-90s, with both aircraft currently being prepared for Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson). The occasion brings to a close the long relationship JAL has had with the type, which began back in 1974 when predecessor, TOA Domestic Airlines (Tokyo Haneda), took delivery of its first DC-9-40. TOA was later renamed JAS - Japan Air System (Tokyo Haneda) prior to its merger with JAL.
