Boeing (BOE, Washington National) has received the all clear from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) regarding planned B787-8 overseas-operations in China, set to begin in the coming months. However, according to the administration's approval statement, the CAAC "will require carriers to operate their 787s only on domestic routes initially". Both China Southern Airlines (CZ, Guangzhou) and Hainan Airlines (HU, Haikou) expect to take delivery of their first of 10 respective Dreamliners over the coming weeks with Hainan Airlines hoping to use them on its new flight from Beijing Capital to Chicago O'Hare on September 3. There have been some concerns from the Chinese media over the proposed "run in" period for the 787 as China Southern Airlines, the only local customer for the A380-800, racked up heavy losses after being required to fly their A380s on domestic routes only for a year before receiving clearance to start international service.
