RAK Airways (Ras al Khaimah International) has announced the immediate suspension of flight operations effective January 1. According to a statement issued by the carrier, its board has taken this decision because of "increased pressures on the carrier’s performance due to continuous market conditions, increased operating costs and the impact of the regional political instability on the overall aviation industry." RAK currently operates two A320-200s on a regional network from Ras al Khaimah to Amman Queen Alia, Cairo International, Dhaka, Doha Hamad International, Islamabad International, Jeddah International, Kathmandu, Kozhikode, Lahore International, Peshawar and Riyadh. The airline says it is considering potentially resuming operations after a restructuring phase. No other carrier currently operates scheduled flights from Ras al Khaimah.
