Air Canada rouge (RV, Toronto Pearson) is proceeding with plans to establish bases at Vancouver International and Calgary this Spring. In preparation for the expansion drive, the airline has already begun recruiting an additional 430 staff with a further twenty-one ex-Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau) aircraft set to join its fleet by year end. Launched in mid 2013 by parent Air Canada as a low cost alternative to Air Transat (TS, Montréal Trudeau), Sunwing Airlines (WG, Toronto Pearson) and WestJet (WS, Calgary), Rouge's fleet consists of nine A319-100s and three B767-300(ER)s used on flights to Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico and the United States.
